The Netherlands - A blossoming market.

Interim management has been in demand in The Netherlands for more than 20 years. According to nvim, in The Netherlands there are more than 40,000 interim managers today. For more than 20 years the market shows a significant increase both on the demand and the supply side.

Interim management is being offered and utilized by various service providers. Those are among others, agencies, consultancies, head-hunters, temporary employment agencies, IT service providers, auditors or outplacement agencies. Beyond that there are interim managers in ministries or management consultancies.

According to nvim the overwhelming majority of interim managers are appointed either on the management board or on the second level management.  A large part is working in advisory functions for the principals. It is quite common that interim managers are requested in times of upheaval, change or in crisis situations. On average 30% of all interim orders concern change management processes, about 14% of interim managers are used to bridging vacancies.
At the mediation level of orders, Dutch interim managers have been able to cooperate with numerous agencies.  Of those, 19 count as top agencies, which are organised in RIM (Raad voor Interim management) and work closely together with nvim.

Great Britain. Britannia rules.

The British interim management market has developed and differentiated partly by the economic interweaving with the USA as one of the first in Europe.

The largest number of orders comes from the private sector (86%), the rest are orders from the public sector.  Numerous interim managers and providers are organised in professional associations.  As in Germany, the pooling serves the purpose of professionalising and quality assurance of interim management. The Institute of Interim Management (IIM), founded in 2001, represents the interests of interim executives, focuses on professional standards and offers support in the professional day-to-day life.

Switzerland. Nationally positioned - internationally networked.

The Swiss Interim Management was founded as an independent association for interim managers towards the end of 2006.  Members are interim managers and selected placement agencies for interim management, companies and sponsors.  The management board and the members' meeting are bodies of the association which, according to the statute, may form other bodies.

DSIM allows and facilitate professional networking at national and international levels and leads the dialog within and beyond the market. Regardless of whether it is about new orders, exchange or experience, continuing education or simply about interesting news from the branch. Every enterpriser knows how important a well functioning network is for his own work.
