Interim Management Sector
How large is the interim management market in Germany?
DDIM estimates that there are about 3,500 professional interim managers in Germany. About 25 to 30 professional agencies have pools of temporary managers. In 2008 turnover was at a volume of approximately 750 million euros. Experts presume that the market is growing annually by about 20 to 30 per cent.
How long has there been interim management in Germany?
Since the 1980s, the temporary use of external managers in Germany has developed into an independent service segment. Significant growth has now been observed for about ten years.
What is the perspective for coming years?
Current market surveys of various independent organisations are predicting dynamic growth of the sector for the coming years. This is because the increase in flexibility and division of labour by specialisation, with changing needs for skills, for example in network companies, interdisciplinary work groups or "breathing" organisations is making progress. The demographic development in Germany is also showing that the skills of managers and specialists are much too valuable for them to be permanently locked in to a single organisation.
