5th International Interim Management Meeting - Keeping a clear profile through the crisis
the motto of this IIMM is "Keeping a clear profile through the crisis". In the face of widespread downturns and radical changes in almost all areas of the economy, the interim management sector must adapt for the changing conditions. On the one hand, the current economic climate means that the market for interim managers has become more competitive. On the other hand, numerous opportunities have arisen, especially if we are to be successful with complex restructuring mandates and thus strengthen the reputation of professional interim management. The need for experienced crisis management in particular and for flexible management support has grown significantly.
Making use of these opportunities means above all, that we have to clearly present and actively explain the concrete benefits of interim management with the help of cases, scenarios and recommendations And it also means ceaselessly working on our own skills, to be able to present a clearly identifiable profile in the marketplace.
The highlight of the first evening kick-off event for the 5th IIMM, the traditional networking event, will be the keynote presented by the ex CEO of Strabag and current president of the European Enterprise Institute (EEI), Peter Jungen. After the guests have been welcomed by DDIM chairman, Michael Pochammer, Jungen will speak on the subject "The world economic and financial crisis - the causes and the solutions". Together with economists well known around the world, such as the Nobel prize winners Edmund Phelps and Joseph Stiglitz, as a member of the New York think tank "Center on Capitalism and Society" Jungen has advised international committees on the creation of a new financial architecture.
Jungen's main thrust is that in Germany, the scale of the crisis has still not been fully recognised and that it is too easy to solely blame the current crisis on the misbehaviour of banks and hedge funds. It is rather the case that an almost 18 year long growth cycle has come to an end and that a structural downturn has begun. The major debt crisis is simply an additional factor in the face of this worldwide economic situation. In Jungen's view, this is "as if, after the patient had pneumonia, they caught an additional infection."
Following this, Christoph Brüske will offer a somewhat different view on our sector and on the way we are dealing with the crisis. Be ready for a surprise!
On the following day, after a short report on the status of the DDIM, the CEO of WERU AG, Jürgen Wirths will open up the practical work of the 5th IIMM with a report from the customer's point of view.
This will be followed by the "Marketplace" as a new IIMM networking format, providing all participants with the opportunity to gather information and exchange ideas centred around three topics. The topics are "Open space - creating and maintaining networks", "Internal crisis communication in interim management" and "Models for providers".
The main subject of this year's IIM comes after the lunch break, "Types of acquisition - the path to success". An interim manager, a provider and a partnership representative will hold presentations about their acquisition methods. They will then participate in a panel discussion on the subject.
As a supporting programme, some selected interim management service suppliers will be presenting their services. The regular DDIM members meeting will take place as usual, just before the IIMM, on the 12th November.
We look forward to a good attendance and wish all participants that they make plenty of new contacts and open up some interesting new perspectives.
With best regards
Your DDIM board
